The first meeting of the new Mustela Book Club is scheduled for Wednesday 4th April 2007 at 8.00pm in Graduate College bar.
Hopefully we can use this first meeting to figure out:
- How often to meet up
- How to choose books to discuss
And to talk about some rules, such as:
- Everybody has to read the book
- No books over 400 pages
Hope to see you there!

Hi guys,
It seems the original date of 28 March is a bit difficult for some people, so we have organised it for the week after (Wednesday 4 April). i hope this is more convenient??
please let mark or james know if not, and if needed we may have to change it again…
mark.

Can I propose Henry James’ ‘The Turn of The Screw’ for our first book? It’s only a short one. There are three copies in the university library at present.

Ben, aren’t there two c’s in raccoon? :) Whatever, tanuki rule!
I suggest we stick to fiction, with members taking it in turns to suggest a book. In my ideal book club anyone suggesting Harry Potter or similar ‘kidult’ fare would be asked to leave, but on the other hand perhaps the object of the exercise is to read books that we wouldn’t otherwise have picked up.

is 4th of april a bit near easter? My mate tanja might be visiting. Can she come along even though she will have to depart for the homeland soon thereafter and as such therefore will be unable to attend for any further meetings? My questions is, i suppose, not about whether to be or not to be, but whether a transient membership category can be established? I am quite good at laminating, in fact i am secretly luvin it luvin it luvin it – like that! I shall therefore offer my services in the membership card laminating arena. Is that too many things at once? Can a blog contain more than one subject matter please? Many thanks and much obliged, o xxx

Olaug,
(1) you may bring your friend along, although we are bending the rules slightly, we would not want to discriminate so harshly on this occasion.
(2) you may make laminated cards if you please, in fact it may even make us all feel a little special! bonding through creativity is a laudible asset…just make sure they look good :0!!

hey guys,
i have changed the meeting time to 8pm instead of the original time (7.30pm). This is due to the opening time of the bar, which does not open untill 8pm during nonterm hours.
mark.
